Helping & Soothing Especially for Use Before Applying Powder. Please check out our reviews for more info, and if you would like more complete listing information, please email us. We have lots of historical information to share!
Most of us don’t know what Vanishing Cream is, so let’s start there. Vanishing Cream is so-called because it “vanishes” into the skin. It also is touted to “vanish” skin and moisturizes. But the main attribute associated with Vanishing Cream is for making a protective layer against your skin and the makeup you are applying. This is meant to protect the skin, so apply this first, rub it in, let it sit a minute – then apply your makeup.
We are super excited about this recipe because not only have you been asking for a “vanishing cream” for a very long time, but it also really bridges the gap for us when thinking about how historical cosmetics and skincare changed throughout history to get us where we are now.
(We had a lot more historical information to share with you, but we had to take it out due to Etsy’s new policies. Please feel free to email us for more info.)
Let’s go over the ingredients- because they are a little different.
Before you get all nervous because of the names let’s break it down for you… These ingredients aren’t as scary as one would think… different than what is commonly seen in the shop… but not scary.
Please Note: The product is an all-natural product so batches may vary a bit, and some settling may occur during travel. The heat will affect the fluffiness and consistency of the whipped product but not the actual product itself. Visual changes may occur with temperature changes, so if it is a little flaky that is ok. It will not affect its potency.
NOTE: It’s that time of year again. Please remember that our products can change and melt with changing weather and heat. For our vanishing cream, some of the pink water may come out of the product with travel and warm conditions. This is normal, just discard it or mix it in. Also, if you have some small bits, don’t panic. That is a little bit of steric acid (Natual Fatty acid) that didn’t get dissolved. Just wipe it off. It’s the beauty of natural, historical and vintage products made with minimal ingredients and original recipes! Many would argue that the look or consistency can change, but they get the job done better than their modern counterparts.
About The Ingredients: Sodium Carbonate, Boric Acid, Vegetable Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Bulgarian Rose EO, Carmine
NOTE: Color vibrancy will vary between batches. Also, Vanishing Cream is whipped, which is what gives it fluffiness. It will be very soft and velvety. In the hotter months, especially with shipping, this cream is liable to melt, which means the air will come out, and it may look different and seem like there is less in the jar. I assure you it’s the same amount as when it left our apothecary, minus the air and fluff. If this happens, don’t fret. It’s a natural recipe with no modern emulsifying ingredients to keep things fluffy and keep all the water in the product. This is one reason historical creams were sold in small jars. If it melts, it’s still completely useable, just stir it up. Batches may vary slightly due to small production runs! Natural skincare is the best skincare!
