Milk Of Roses is one of the winners of the Regency period for the face. It was continuously praised in advertisements. An 1819 ad said it was “the most delightful cosmetic in Europe.” This comes from an 1811 receipt and will need to be vigorously shaken to combine the ingredients. Once it’s combined, it will look whitish – like milk. You can then use a cotton ball to apply it daily.

After we finished this recipe, we located another receipt written by Martha Lloyd, who was a very good friend of Jane Austen. The recipes were identical- so this product is something that Jane Austen could have used.

NOTE: Product may separate (last photo). Shake extremely well to combine. (Once combined it will look white like “milk”) Use a sponge or cotton ball and apply to the skin. No need to wash off.

APPLICATION: Apply with a cotton ball once or twice a day to cleanse and tone the face. This product is best applied twice a day with our small sponges (found in the shop, see link below) or a cotton ball-no need to wipe or dry off the excess.
