NOTE: This will separate into layers. Before use, you must vigorously shake to combine. There may be some Sandalwood floaties or small bits of organic herbs suspended in the jar. They will usually combine when shaken and are perfectly normal. When I strained things this time, a had some bits of goodness excape- which only lends itself to more fragrant smells for you!

Brilliantine is a hair-grooming product intended to soften men’s and women’s hair, including beards and mustaches, and give it a glossy, well-groomed appearance. It was created at the turn of the 20th century by French perfumer Édouard Pinaud.

We are excited to bring you this original 1936 brilliantine. Most don’t know what Brilliantine is, but we are convinced that once you know, you will love it. Historically, both men and women used brilliantine, although most of the time, it was separated out into “Manly” scents and “Feminine” scents. This is scented with an original Bay Rum Recipe from the 1930s.

Brilliantine is not for hold. It is for shine and gloss. Think of Hollywood starlets and leading men. This is how they got their hair so shiny. This would be applied with your hands or on a comb or brush after you style with pomade or other hair products. If you aren’t using this oil the “old fashioned” way, you can also use it to control frizz and add shine to any hairstyle.
